The Skills Initiative is excited to name our fifth annual class of Skills Initiative Scholars. The twenty-seven selected Skills Initiative alumni will each receive funding in the amount of $3,000 for tuition and associated fees, totaling $81,000. This last-dollar scholarship program is funded through generous donations from the Hummingbird Foundation and the Chappell-Culpeper Foundation.
“We’re very grateful to our generous funders for continuing to support our Skills Initiative Scholars program,” says Senior Director of Programs Dr. Romaine Thrower. “Our scholars represent the power of persistence and possibility. We are proud to continue investing in their education and development, knowing that each scholarship brings them on step closer to accomplishing their goals.”
Since our formation, The Skills Initiative has prioritized the continued success of program graduates well beyond when their time in training concludes. Our efforts to support alumni include tailored networking events and workshops, priority consideration on job opportunities, resume assistance, and a newly launched housing pilot program.
The staff at the Skills Initiative extends our best wishes to scholarship recipients as they prepare for the next steps in their educational journey. We look forward to sharing stories of their continued success.
